Wildlife laundering through breeding farms: Illegal harvest, population declines and a means of regulating the trade of green tree pythons (Morelia viridis) from Indonesia
A link to this was posted over on MVF. From reading the forums over time, there was talk that there are farmed animals and there are “farmed” animals. But here’s a paper proving how it all goes down. It’s not like there’s a shortage of captive bred green tree pythons—there’s really no excuse for this illegally wild caught shit. Interesting suggestion in the paper about exporting eggshells with snakes, though.
As far as farms go, the one in Indonesia that Bushmaster uses is by all accounts legit. But why not just buy a snake from a local breeder that you know is captive bred?
